Ok, so today my fabric came. So i thought i'd get going on a bit from the side of my dash to show you guys the outcome.

Currently it's at the resin stage 1, so still some bits to go. I dont think i will lacquer the parts i do, i'll leave that to you if you want to. IMO the resin looks good unlacquered and its impermeable etc so is pretty hard core.

Also, for this one i tried to use as little carbon as possible, so i could use the rest to do the bits for people who are gonna be trialing this service. But i'm obviously gonna cut off the frayed peices etc so it'll look just as good.

here's some photos, i'll get some up when fully finished:

    from carbon mods?

and mate ive done a bit of this before after a few layers of resin you will need to flattern it back through every grade of paper
    - then go again with more resin (about 4 coats of this process)
    - then flattern it again, then you will need to laquer it to get it shiney

(note - everytime you flattern it, it will look very cloudy if not unregognisable as carbon, but dont worry it will look like it again when you put the next layer of resin ontop/laquer)

and also if you mix the mix too quick use a low heat hair dryer to pop the bubbles - this also makes the resin easier to manipulate as it becomes runier. but do NOT leave it milky at all as it will dry like this (pop all the bubbles)

anyways on that note - have fun Razz

not from carbon mods nah, got all the stuff myself does just as good job tbh
aint got any bubbles yet, and i aint lacquering the parts that im doing - im leaving it to the people when they receive it if they wanna lacquer. Im leaving it with resin cos im really s**t at lacquering stuff lol

trust me mate - when you start flattening it down (as you will have to after EVERY application of resin) you cannot make out the weeve and looks soo gash
looks like someone has just sanded part of a car down
but this goes the second water/laquer/resin is applied and goes shiny and clear

you will see in time jonnie!

ok, so I finished my first ever carbon skin.
I didn't do it for 2 days due to being out and busy, so I just left it in the drying rack.

But now, piece 1 is finished (all be it with a delay)

not bad for a first attempt, how many times did you flatten it back, then re-resin?

    This answers your question steve...

So, today I went about fitting my coilies with my mate Ryan. But I woke up 2hrs later than when we were meant to start so could only get the backs fitted before ryan had to shoot off to work.

    I'm doing the fronts tomorrow.

I'm down around 75/80 on the rear and obviously they need to settle. I can go to 120mm with adjusters but the camber would be too much!!!

Anyway, I've got my 17" Enkeis coming this week so they should look real nice with the drop.

I'm doing the fronts with Ryan tomorrow...

This is the car jacked up before we started - just shows how low the exhaust pipe is already to the floor Laughing

And here are the after shots - excuse the filthy car lol, and I half took the sport sticker off one side today :look:

And this one shows the difference in height lol

Car is sitting level now. No more reverse rake. Front is a little lower than the rear.
Had a bit of a mishap today... Here we go...

    Ok.

So i started off with the O.Z. F1s off an EVO IV.

Then I got my delivery of Subaru Enkeis in 17"

The offset meant it wouldnt clear my brakes or clear the top of my suspension.

So, I went to get some Accord Type R alloys. Turned up, and the guy showed me a different set of alloys. I said these aint the ones, cos they were 16s. The Accord ones were 17s. He said sorry he forgot what ones had sold etc. The guy was genuine. He then said he had some Konig 18s in his car, that were getting picked up tonight for £400. He said I could have them if i want for £400.
I only had £240 on me, so I was like 'Ive come all this way for your mistake' so he let me have them. 2 good tyres, 2 need changing.

I fitted them up, they look alright.

Then I was like, they look too chavvy. So I'm getting rid.

Ending up talking to a guy and possibly buying some type r wheels.

I will definitely get new wheels, but which ones... who knows.

After one of my santa pod runs was aborted due to a loose jubilee clip causing my short ram arm to fall, and the filter wedge in the gear linkage (i couldnt get out of third gear all the way, and back to the stands), my cone ended up like this:

So i ordered a better filter, a mushroom one, youve probably seen these HKS ones on RX7's etc. Its nice, but, it seems a bit small. Not sure on it. its meant to be way better than the cone... but its smaller, and i think its not as loud - a sign that not as much air is coming in? But, i dunno. I think im just paranoid about the sound. Im sure its making my exhaust pop loads more too - so maybe it is bringing in more air?

    anyway - here it is

    Not sure tbh..
